September 10, dozens of local children to take a break in hospitals, procedures, drugs or grief to hit the track at a Fashion Show / Cotton Club annual benefit you Nidito children and Family Services.
"It's their night. This is a really special night for them to shine. It is something positive away from the daily pain, they do," said Laura DiChristofano, co-chair of the event Amy Breckenridge.
Both are members of the Ladies of Tucson, a diverse group of about 15 women dedicated to solving the problems of children.
At the beginning of seven years ago, the Council opted for Tu Nidito than the recipient. Since then, DiChristofano said members are in essence become the advocates of non-profit organization that seeks to provide comfort, hope and support to children and families whose lives have been affected by serious illness or death.
"We have a close relationship with the Nidito You and to love the work they are doing," he said DiChristofano. "We need a fashion show to raise more than 15 percent of their annual operating budget and more than 90 cents for every dollar given to them goes directly to families and children and their care."
Last year, that Nidito served over 800 children through seven core programs and summer camp. Programs for children with serious illnesses are one-on-one support from social workers and social workers, support groups and courage pearls, documentation of children throughout their journey to health with colors, beads hand.
Programs for children 3-18 years who have a parent with cancer or other serious diseases are life-support groups and activities. Age-specific support pain of those who have lost someone to disease or Homicide is available in the children's children, where young people receive support from colleagues who have gone through the same loss; groups are available for young adults, too.
You Nidito also served as a resource during the tragic events of January 8, Development Coordinator Alexis Quintana said.
"We made well over 100 awareness presentations over the years, not just the extension of benefits to families of the victims, but offered advice to parents on how to talk to their children about the tragedy. We also provided information to the various EU bodies and schools to help people deal with, "said Quintana.
You Nidito staff are experts in helping children and families cope during the toughest battles of life, said the fashion show publicity chairman Shelly Stewart.
"Both need to meet, was not served before. If you've never touched cancer or an illness or a death in the family, because so many of us have, you know how important this is and how children often have difficulty with these things "he said. "You Nidito is a little 'easier."
Stewart said DiChristofano and sincere, inspiring the next non-profit will be in full screen during the parade to come, combined with the excitement and pleasure symbolized by the Cotton Club to the golden age of jazz.
